| On the weekend of August 7-8th Amax NutraSource held an
entire company get together in Eugene, Oregon. All employees, including
their families and significant others gathered for an open air adventure
that included horseback riding, off-road “Quad” racing, and a sumptuous
barbeque banquet, highlighted by a river rafting trip on the pristine,
cold, fast-flowing McKenzie River. In the background, making it all the
more special was the beautiful weather—summers in Oregon are one of the
best kept secrets in the United States. Most people think it is always
raining in Oregon…not in the summer! This first ever all-company outing was so successful, it probably demands an encore. As the Southern California entourage gathered at the airport on Sunday night for the brief flight home, no one could stop talking about their great experiences; racing through the woods on Quad, the water fights on six rafts floating down the river, the beautiful vistas of snow-covered mountains, the forests of huge trees, and the lovely accommodations overlooking the Willamette River, that flows right through the middle of downtown Eugene on its way to meet the mighty Columbia in Portland. Central Oregon might be less than two hours away from Los Angeles by air, but all now agree that this is truly “a world apart.” Digital pictures of the event are posted on this web site. Special thanks to Larry and Tommye Martinez for hosting the dinner at their country home, and all the drivers who transported our friends and co-workers safely back-and-forth and all over the place. It was an event that will be talked about for a long time—at least until we get back together to do it all over again.
